Ditch Inventories
The Middle Park Conservation District is a member of the Colorado River Watershed Association, a collaborative of Colorado conservation districts along the Colorado River working to conserve our private lands in perpetuity.
At a recent meeting of the Watershed, MPCD learned about other districts' ditch inventory projects. This sparked our interest. We are now seeking to guage our ditch owners' interest in having MPCD engage in ditch inventories.
If you are a ditch owner or ditch company in Grand or Summit County, please complete the interest form below to help us help you.

The Goals of a Ditch Inventory are to:
- Assess the condition of the diversion structure, main ditch, measuring devices, lateral headgates, culverts, and any other infrastructure present on the ditch.
- Identified potential points of failure
- Provide input on potential ditch improvements and efficiency projects that could enhance beneficial use and protect landowners' water rights.
- Prioritize areas where multi-benefit improvement projects and multi-use partnerships are both needed and feasible
The GarPit Conservation Districts (Garfield and Pitkin Counties) have put together a video about ditch inventories and their benefits. Check it out below.
