Drought Outlook: April 2025

As many of us look forward to the warmer temperatures that coincide with the onset of spring, the reality is that we still need more snow.  

By analyzing the the charts below, you will notice that current ratings don't always align with the predicted trends 3-4 weeks out.

The current US Drought Monitor rating depicts Grand and Summit Counties as NO Drought conditions (as of 3/20/25).

Furthermore, the Colorado Snowpack report shows that the Colorado Headwaters Basin is at 102% of normal (as of 3/20/25).

HOWEVER, the 3-4 week Temperature and Precipitation Outlooks from the Climate Predication Center, portray a bleaker forecast of hotter and drier (for 3/29-4/11/25).
